Potenza RF Microneedling FAQs

Side effects are to be anticipated following a Potenza RF microneedling treatment. The skin will be flushed or red as if you’ve spent the day in the sun with a mild to moderate sunburn, which may be expected when you leave your appointment.

Potenza RF Microneedling-induced redness usually goes away in 48 hours or less. Other side effects, such as peeling and breakouts, may take longer to heal. The visible healing from microneedling takes place in the first few days or weeks following treatment, but recovery continues beneath the skin’s surface for up to two months.

You can’t do much to eliminate the redness right after Potenza RF microneedling—even with meticulous aftercare. A 48-hour period of swelling is to be expected following the procedure. After microneedling, peeling or flaking is also common. These are a few other common side effects of microneedling, but not everyone will experience them.

Minimizing side effects is possible with moisturizers and mild cleansers on the skin. Compared to other cosmetic procedures, the post-microneedling downtime for microneedling is relatively short.

FOR 24 HOURS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Avoid direct heat and sweat, including steam rooms, saunas, and exercising.
Continue to avoid makeup on the treated area.

FOR AT LEAST THREE DAYS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT…

Avoid topical irritants — these potentially include harsh soaps, medicated washes, scrubs, oils, retinols, scented lotions and peels.
Avoid hot baths / showers, as well as swimming (in any temperature). When bathing, use cool water and gentle soap; pat skin dry with a clean, soft towel.
Avoid scrubbing, scratching or shaving.
Moisturize with hyaluronic acid or healing cream purchased at Glo Spa. You may use over-the-counter hydrocortisone 1% mixed with either aloe, Vaseline® or Aquaphor®, up to three times daily or as needed to help reduce irritation or itching.

FOR UP TO TWO WEEKS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT…

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds.
Apply sunscreen SPF 30+ daily, and wear barrier protection such as wide-brimmed hats, large sunglasses and breathable protective clothing when outdoors.
